We just celebrated our 110th year on May 1st. Since that humble beginning we have done just about everything to raise money for our hospital equipment …8.4 million to date.

To celebrate this anniversary and Auxiliary Day we bought a hanging basket and went to the hospital to hold a draw. All the department names were put into a bucket and the Emergency Dept. won again. From there the patient care coordinator went back to the dept. and drew a lucky winner. This was done last year as well but in pre-covid days we would have held a huge bake sale.

We held strawberry teas, bake sales, pub nights, Purdy chocolate sales and raffles to name a few. Our latest project is a raffle being planned for some time in summer of 2021. We are looking into options for a way to collect money for online ticket sales rather than the old way of selling in person due to covid restrictions.

We operate the Thrift Shoppe at 9236 Main St and are presently open 3 days a week for business and 3 days for donations. It is difficult these days to get volunteers and we are only open 11 to 3.

We used to be able to sell our knitting at the hospital but covid shut down all our programs and money-making opportunities. We now moved our knitting case to the Shoppe, but sales are not as lucrative. We have joined many groups in the area to get the word out BIA President dropped by the Shoppe to interview our members and got a good video of the Shoppe. If anyone is interested, it is on #downtownproudchwk.
